Bassist Jared Henderson comes from the small mountain town of Sisters, Oregon. He started playing bass at the age of 11, studying mainly with his father. Most of his early musical education is derived from the concert experience in his hometown. During high school, Jared won numerous awards at local jazz festivals.
During this period, he attended numerous jazz workshops to further aid his musical education and in 2009, he managed to win a full scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music. During his time at Berklee, Jared was a member of the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute, an intensive music program directed by renowned pianist Danilo Perez.
Through this program, Jared has worked with some of the world’s most important musicians, such as Brian Blade, Terri-Lyne Carrington, Ruben Blades, John Patitucci and Ben Street. In addition, he also studied with John Lockwood, Dave Santoro and Hal Crook.
After graduating from Berklee in 2013, Jared moved to New York to play music and be part of the rich scene of the Big Apple. Jared has performed with artists such as Danilo Perez, Dave Liebman, Adam Cruz, Joe Lovano, Chris Cheek, Dayna Stephens, Rich Perry, Terrell Stafford, Julian Lage, Jason Palmer, Lage Lund, Justin Faulkner, Christian Li and Mike Bono.
Currently Jared is earning his master’s degree in a full-time scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
